HYROX World Championships: See How Our Athletes Are Preparing for the Competition

With the 2025 HYROX World Championships kicking off tomorrow in Chicago, US, our athletes have been hitting the gym hard in anticipation of the big event.Stakes are high as only 1% of the 500,000+ competitors who competed this past season make it to the world stage. We couldn't be prouder of our Myprotein ambassadors and HYROX pros who crushed the competition and earned their spots in tomorrow's championship.Winning a HYROX title is no small feat, and we know you're wondering just how our athletes prepare, both physically and mentally. So, we asked some of our favourite athletes to break down their HYROX experience, including lessons learned, advice, motivators, and preparation and training for the upcoming competition. Let's see what they've been up to.Jump to:

Training & Preparation

With the World Championships coming up, what are you doing to prepare?

Tim Wenish (Germany):

I normally prep for the World Championship in the same way that I prep for the rest of the season. I like to be in my normal environment with equipment I know and surround myself with things I am used to.

For me, a routine environment is the most important thing for the preparation. The difference from the rest of the season is that I am even more focused and put more emphasis on every single session of training as well as the recovery.Lucas Parker (UK): I am training hard, doing my best to balance work and fitness.Rylan Schadegg (US):

I have been spending some time above 7000' for altitude training, as well as heat training in the sauna. Besides that, just regular peak phase protocol.

Lessons Learned

Tim Wenish training

What are some lessons you've learned from previous competitions that you'll take with you into the World Championship?

Tim Wenisch (Germany): Having fun during the races is a must. Less is more on the days leading up to the race. Never just settle for second place.Lucas Parker(UK):I need to prepare my body by being well-rested and focusing on the strength components of Hyrox which have been more challenging in previous competitions.Rylan Schadegg (US): Don't go out too hot, but don't lose touch. This race won't be won from the back.

Looking Forward: Motivators & Goals

HYROX competition

What are you most excited about with the upcoming competition?

Tim Wenish (Germany): The feeling, that there is a genuine chance to become a world champion.Lucas Parker (UK):Competing with some of the best athletes in the world.Rylan Schadegg (US): Just competing. Most of 2024 I never thought I would be able to race again with my medical condition. Just to be racing again is special.

Advice from the Pros

What is your best advice for those looking to get into HYROX?

Tim Wenish (Germany):

Don't just view the 8 stations and 8 runs as the content of your training. HYROX and the training is very varied and the variation is what makes it so much fun to train for.

Lucas Parker (UK):

Keep it simple, progress things gradually, challenge yourself, and get input from those who have done it before.

Rylan Schadegg (US): Work on your running, and hinge movements, then just try one! The environment is amazing.
